Send a note. I read all of them.
Questions about a route, a correction to a piece, a closed gallery I did not know about, a museum I should have written about and have not — write in. Replies usually come within a week.
The quickest way
If you have a yes/no question or a quick correction, write to [email protected]. I read these on Sunday and Wednesday evenings.
For longer letters
If you want to ask about something more substantial — a route for an unusual visit (a wheelchair user, a child with a sound sensitivity, a family with a teenager who hates museums) — please use the form below. I write longer replies on weekends, sitting at the small table by the window in my apartment in Garden City.
I do not arrange visits, tickets, tours, or guides.
The notebook is independent. I do not partner with any agency. If you want practical arrangements, please write to the museum directly, or use a registered Egyptian travel agency. I am not one and will not become one.
Office hours
Wednesday afternoon, 14:00–17:00 Cairo time, I sit in a small café on Sharia Qasr el-Aini in Garden City with a notebook and a phone. If you are in Cairo and would like to ask something briefly in person, please email first to confirm. I cannot promise to be there in heavy rain.

Letters in English, Arabic, French and Italian are read with pleasure. Replies are written when there is time, in the same language as the letter when possible.

What I cannot help with
- Booking entry to any museum or site.
- Confirming opening hours or closures — please write to the museum directly. I update the notebook every three months but I cannot be live.
- Authentication or valuation of objects, photographs, or family heirlooms. I am not qualified, and even if I were, the matter belongs to the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
- Recommending guides, tour operators, or drivers by name. The right choice depends on you, and a written recommendation is too easily out of date.
